This is the first edition of the TRB Update for 2010. If you know a teacher who has not received an email from the Board, please encourage them to advise the Board of their current contact details.
There are currently 4736 teachers registered in the Northern Territory.
Since August 2009, around 389 new teachers have been registered to teach and the new registrations are evenly divided between teachers registering from other states and New Zealand under the Mutual Recognition arrangements and those registering under the provisions of the Teacher Registration (Northern Territory) Act (the Act). Of this number, 81 are beginning teachers with 61 of these being graduates from either Charles Darwin University or the Bachelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education.
The Board extends a warm welcome to all teachers newly registered in the Northern Territory and particularly graduate teachers who are joining the profession for the first time.
This is a reminder that you can access the TRB online register by visiting our website and clicking ‘Search the Register’. This is a fast and easy way to check that your registration is current. If your principal requires evidence that you are registered, simply print this page.
The Digest is produced by the Australian Council of Educational Research and focuses on a single issue and what research means for teachers and teaching. The focus of the first edition for 2010 is on Professional Learning, an important topic for all educators. It will be available in the next few weeks. Please visit our website to access this valuable professional reading.
