Annual Report

The TRB's Annual Report for the 2006-2007 financial year is now available.

As well as reporting on the Board activities the Annual Report presents data about registrations and authorisations.

As at June 2007, 4572 teachers had registered in the Northern Territory. Between July 2006 and June 2007, there were 721 new registrations just under half of whom registered under Mutual Recognition. Of the total number of teachers registered in the Northern Territory under Mutual Recognition a very significant majority are from Queensland.

New registrations

So far since July this year, 371 new teachers have been registered in the Northern Territory of whom 215 were applications under Mutual Recognition. Against the trend of previous years, the majority of MR registrations since July of this year have been from Victoria.

Registration renewals

In the first week of October, we posted out 3,487 registration renewal forms to teachers whose registration will expire 31 December 2007. The registration expiry date is printed on your registration card.

Registration renewal reminders will be sent out in the first week in December. Please keep in mind you may not be employed as a teacher in the Northern Territory unless you are registered with the TRB.

We also encourage you to let us know if you are not intending to re-register as this will assist in the management of our teacher registration database.

Consultations on the introduction of provisional registration

Over the past few months, the TRB has been holding consultations with our stakeholders about the proposal to introduce provisional registration and registration renewal requirements. An information paper and a summary of how these important issues are managed in other jurisdictions are available on our website and there still is an opportunity to have your say by completing the online surveys.

Opening hours over Christmas and New Year

The TRB will be closed from Monday 24 December 2007 to 1 January 2008 inclusive. Normal office hours will resume on Wednesday 2 January 2008.
