This is the second edition of the TRB update. If you know of someone who has not received an email from the Board about the update, please encourage them to email the Board and let us know.
At the September meeting of the Board, 79 new teachers were registered in the Northern Territory, of whom 42 were registered under Mutual Recognition. Most of the teachers registered here under Mutual Recognition are from Queensland, followed by Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania.
In the first week of October the Board will mail your registration renewal form - so if you have changed your address in the past 12 months, please advise the Board if you haven't already. Remember you can register for up to five years. Your registration expiry date is written on your registration card.
The draft Northern Territory Professional Standards for Accomplished Teachers are now on the website, for consultation in October. The standards were drafted by teachers who generously gave their time over two full-day workshops.
Registered teachers in the Northern Territory have had their say on teachers' professional development in a national survey, the results of which are expected to be released on World Teachers' Day, 26 October 2007. This is the first national survey on this scale since 1999.
The Australasian Forum of Teacher Registration and Accreditation Authorities, which includes this Board, commissioned the Australian Research Group to undertake the survey.
An independent panel of experts supported by the Board has completed its assessment of the Charles Darwin University Bachelor of Teaching and Learning Program.
The Board is responsible for advising the Minister for Employment, Education and Training on the suitability of preservice teacher education programs for delivery in the Territory. Courses are submitted to the Board for assessment by an independent panel.
