Welcome!
The Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory approved the Teacher Registration (Northern Territory) Act (the Act) on 19 August 2004. The Act came into operation on 13 September 2004 and thus established the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory (the TRB or the Board).
The Board is an independent body charged with: registering teachers, or granting authorisation to an employer to employ an unregistered person as a teacher; liaising with providers of teacher education and professional development in the Northern Territory; supporting the development of appropriate teacher education courses; and developing a code of ethics for Territory teachers.
Newsflash
Following a second round of consultations with stakeholders, a Code of Ethics (pdf 30Kb) for Northern Territory teachers was endorsed by the Board in May 2009.
