Ms Karen Blanchfield, Chair Ms Blanchfield has worked in a variety of schools and office positions overseas and in the Northern Territory. She has taught at Alice Springs since 1981 and is Principal of Ross Park Primary School. She recently completed her Master of International Management and is an executive member of the Association of Northern Territory School Educational Leaders (ANTSEL). Ms Blanchfield was Deputy Chairperson prior to becoming Chairperson of the Teacher Registration Board. |

Mr Steve Carter, Deputy Chair Mr Carter is employed by the Power and Water Corporation as the gas supply coordinator. Prior to this he has been associated with the oil and gas industry working in Europe and the Middle East as well as Australia. Mr Carter is a long-serving executive member of the Council of Government School Organisations (COGSO), President from 1996 to 1998 and a Life Member. He has a long-standing interest in education and is well informed about educational issues at the local and national level. |

Ms Elsabe Bott Elsabe Bott has been teaching in the Northern Territory since 1988, when she began teaching English at Kormilda College. During that time she completed work on a Master of Educational Studies (Aboriginal Education). After eight years, Ms Bott moved to St John’s College where she worked firstly as Coordinator of Indigenous Education and then as Curriculum Coordinator. In 2002 she returned to Kormilda College to take up a position as the Director of Studies. In this role she takes a keen interest in professional development activities and professional standards for staff, a role that complements her work on the Teacher Registration Board. Elsabe is currently a member of the Independent Education Union NT Executive and previously was Secretary of the IEU–NT Branch. |

Mr Stephen Nimmo Stephen is the immediate past Vice-President of the Northern Territory Branch of the Australian Education Union. His teaching career includes several years in the Northern Territory and a three year spell in Vietnam. He has taught in both urban and remote schools and across the whole age range from Transition classes to Year 12 English. Stephen has a joint honours degree in English and Philosophy from the University of Strathclyde and a Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of New England. Stephen is currently Assistant Regional Manager of Operations for the Barkly. |

Professor Peter Kell Professor Peter Kell is Head of the School of Education at Charles Darwin University. Professor Kell was appointed to Charles Darwin University in May 2011 and was previously the Director of the UNESCO-UNEVOC centre at the Hong Kong Institute of Education. Peter Kell has a background as a teacher in the Northern Territory and has wide experience as teacher in Technical and further Education. Dr Kell has previously worked at the University of Wollongong, RMIT University and James Cook University and has wide experience in pre-service and postgraduate teacher education and research in education. Peter Kell’s current research includes projects on overseas volunteering, global student mobility and international literacy and numeracy testing. He is currently editor of the International Journal of Training Research and was President of the Australian Vocational Education and Training Research Association (AVETRA) from 2004-08. |

Ms Claire Kilgariff Claire Kilgariff took up the position as Head of the Faculty of Education, Arts and Social Sciences at Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education in June 2009. Claire has made a significant contribution to education in the Northern Territory through her contribution to pre-service teacher preparation programs, teacher professional learning, whole school approaches to change and improvement and the development of the Indigenous education workforce. One of her successes was establishing the collaboration between Charles Darwin University and NTDET through the Teaching School project and the development of the Bachelor of Teaching and Learning. Over her career Claire has taught across most stages of schooling and in Higher Education, held school management positions, run her own business and worked as an Executive officer in the NT Government on strategy, policy and programs for workforce and organisational development. |

Mr Greg O'Mullane Greg O'Mullane is the Deputy Director of School Services for the Catholic Education Office in the Northern Territory. In this position he oversees resourcing for all Catholic schools in the areas of Finance, Infrastructure, Planning, Enterprise Bargaining, ICT and the Block Grant Authority. Greg has been in this position for 12 years. Prior to taking this position he was Principal of O'Loughlin Catholic College for six years and Deputy Principal for eight years at St John’s College. Greg has been a member of the NT Board of Studies, Senior Course Curriculum Committee for the NT and Chair of the NT Catholic Principals Association. As well as the Teacher Registration Board, Greg is on the Non-Government Schools Ministerial Advisory Committee and Catholic Education Council’s Facilities, Finances and Resources Standing Committee. He is also a member of the NCEC Employment Relations Working Group. Greg is a member of the Australian College of Education Leaders and a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators and in the immediate past, President of the Australian College of Education, NT Branch. |

Ms Karen Piening Ms Piening has been teaching in the NT since 1987. She has taught in a variety of educational contexts including Homeland Schools, Community Education Centres, Primary and Secondary Schools. Karen has been an ESL advisor in NE Arnhem Schools and the manager of the NT ESL, Literacy and Numeracy Program based in Darwin. Currently Karen is enjoying her fourth year of classroom teaching at Ludmilla Primary School. |

Ms Yalmay Yunupingu Ms Yunupingu was the Principal in 2007, and is a Senior Pre-school teacher at Yirrkala CEC. Ms Yunupingu is committed to Two-Way Education and has been a bicultural role model for students and staff for over three decades. Ms Yunupingu is a Yolngu woman and while Rirratjingu is her first language, she speaks another 16 languages. In 2005, Ms Yunupingu was awarded the Northern Territory Teaching Excellence Award for Remote Primary Teachers. Ms Yunupingu also is a recognised painter/artist. Ms Yunupingu is the Yambirrpa School Council Vice Chairman and a leader in her community, running the Cultural Induction Program in conjunction with Yothu Yindi Foundation for G3 Alcan Gove; organising the internationally acclaimed annual Garma Festival; and sitting on the steering Committee for Dilthan Yolngunha: The Healing Place, a traditional practice healing place operating at Gulkula in northeast Arnhem Land. Mr Chris Tudor AM Chris Tudor is Headmaster of St Philip’s College, Alice Springs. Chris has an insatiable passion for the Outback and its people and had devoted his career to providing quality educational opportunities for young people living in rural and remote areas. He has been recognised for his achievements at national and international level for building a school of international reputation in Australia’s desert heartland. Chris has made a remarkable contribution to the development of the Independent Schools sector in Australia, at both Northern Territory and National level. His contributions to education were recognised in 2001 where he was made a Fellow of the Australian College of Education and on Australia Day, 2004 when he became a Member of the Order of Australia. Ms Lorraine Hodgson Lorraine Hodgson is currently the Assistant Principal at Nemarluk School in Darwin and has been teaching in the Northern Territory, urban and remote schools, since 1978. She also brings to the Board a considerable experience and understanding of professional learning for teachers and school leaders. In 2008, Lorraine was awarded by Teaching Australia and the Australian Joint Council of Professional Teaching Associations (AJCPTA), now the Australian Professional Teachers Association, an International Study Tour with the objective of increasing awareness of international leading practice in teaching and leadership, building collaborative networks and sharing experience. Lorraine is an executive member of the Australian Association of Special Education (NT Chapter), Vice President of the Northern Territory Joint Council of Professional Teaching Associations (NTJCPTA) and a Director of the Australian Professional Teachers Association which she has been involved with since May 2007. She recently accepted a position as a Director on the Board of Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership. |

Mrs Susan Stanaway Sue is currently teaching English and textiles at Nhulunbuy High School in East Arnhem Land. She has been teaching in the Territory since 2003, coming from New Zealand where she was a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour. Sue has been teaching for 38 years, specialising in music, performing arts English and special education, now working across middle school and secondary contexts. She came to the Territory as the Special Education advisor for East Arnhem Land. Sue is filling the Remote Teacher position on the Teacher Registration Board as a representative from the Australian Education Union, NT branch. She was the Women's Officer for the AEU/NT. |
